MIRO SUPPORT | The importance of ducting.
We’re finding recently that there is an obvious issue when people are reporting problems to us. Some customers believe it may well be the extractor that is causing the issue. However, certain types of problems end-users experience are really obvious to us that ducting is the cause of the problem!
Ducting plays a huge role in ensuring your extraction unit works to its fullest capacity.
Most of the efficiency of the aspiration and noise reduction depends on the path and length of the exit to the outside. For this reason we indicate a series of recommendations so that your satisfaction is greatest. We recommend either 150mm (6″) round or 220mm x 90mm rectangular rigid ducting is used in the installation of your new extractor to ensure maximum performance and efficiency. Flexible ducting can often causes issues if it ‘mushrooms’ or concertinas, causing inadequate levels of performance. Failure to do so may invalidate your warranty.
• Avoid making a reduction in diameter at the outlet of the hood nozzle.
• Avoid making a diameter reduction near the elbows.
• Avoid abruptly reducing pipe diameter.
• Reduce the number of elbows as much as possible.
• Make any necessary elbows as sharp as possible.
• Make sure that the smoke outlet is as direct as possible.
So remember, if you’re about to have an extractor installed, or are a kitchen fitter about to install one of our units… 6″ / 150mm circular, rigid ducting or 220 x 90mm rigid rectangular ducting.
