MIRO SUPPORT | The importance of maintenance!
Let’s give you an example or two…
If you bought yourself a car and took it for a stretch on the motorway. You get home and noticed that it’s a bit grubby; there are bugs and flies splatted on the bumper and there’s mud and dirt splashes all up the sides. Would you leave it, and hope it goes away and never needs tending to?
Of course you wouldn’t.
Similarly, let’s say you’ve bought yourself a new oven or an air fryer, even. You’ve done your cooking, you’ve eaten your tea. Would you just leave the oven or the trays of the air fryer unwashed and use them again and again?
Of course you wouldn’t.
So why would you leave your extractor hood or venting hob uncleaned or unloved?
You’d be amazed how many people do.
And you’re running the risk of causing detrimental performance – and even invalidating your warranty…
Here are a few tips on maintenance and why it matters!
Firstly, don’t be fearful of your hood! It’s meant to be cleaned and maintained – just as you would do an oven or a hob, an air fryer or a microwave!
Aside from the fact that you want your appliance to look the part, you also want it to work as it should – and maintaining your cooker hood offers many benefits, including:
* Better performance – the cleaner your grease filters are, the better your hood will perform. Too much grease building up in the filters will hinder the performance, and can hinder the performance of the PCB and/or the motor.
* Longer lifespan – the more you maintain the hood, the longer it will last!
* Improved air quality – cleaning your grease filters will stop the smell of greasy foods from lingering in your kitchen!
* Aesthetics – cleaning your hood simply helps keep your appliance looking as good as new!
WHY WOULD MY WARRANTY BE INVALIDATED?
Quite simply, allowing a build-up of grease to accumulate on the product will put a strain on the components such as the motor and the PCB. If the product is evidently not cleaned and these components fail as a result, this invalidates the warranty due to incorrect maintenance of your product. The hood is there to act as an extractor – they’re great products – but like any appliance, they need the user to ensure they’re looked after!
The easiest way to clean your extractors’ grease filters is simply with warm, soapy water. You can put them in a dishwasher, but I prefer to wash them in the sink by hand. It’s less abrasive and you can ensure they’re cleaned properly!
And by the way – if you’ve got a stainless steel cooker hood, do you know what the best product is to cut through those stubborn build-ups of grease? WD40! Use a spray of WD40 and a micro-fibre cloth and watch those grease stains disappear!
Similarly with your venting hob; you need to be taking care of your product!
Use your typical cleaning products to clean up any spillages or oil splats. Then, using a small spray of WD40 on a microfibre cloth, wipe down the glass surface – make it looking as good as new! Also remember to take out your centre grille piece(s) and ensure they’re washed and cleaned before returning them for the next use. They can cling on to greasy smells, too!
