December – and Christmas – is just around the corner, and a jolly chap in a red suit is dusting down his sleigh and feeding his reindeers. Meanwhile, Team Miro is calling on your help before he makes his journey from the North Pole!
This year, we’re aiming to spread a little Christmas cheer by purchasing and distributing selection boxes and festive treats for children. We’re partnering with Burnley FC in the Community to ensure these gifts reach children in the Burnley area who’ll appreciate them most.
As many of you know, we are based in the heart of Burnley and we’re proud of where we come from. That’s why we want to do something to give back, particularly to the young people of this fantastic town of ours. After all, they are the future! However, through tough economic times, we appreciate just how much tougher things get particularly this time of year – so with the support of the team at Burnley FC in the Community, we are hoping to spread even just a little more cheer and happiness.
If you aren’t aware of Burnley FC in the Community and the work that they do, we would highly recommend that you read on…
Firstly, if you’d like to join Miro and BFCitC in making a difference this festive period, we’re simply asking for donations. We’ll take care of purchasing and distributing the treats, and in return, you’ll receive a festive thank you from us. Plus, we’ll give your company a special mention on our blog and social media pages as a token of our gratitude.
To get involved, please email [email protected] with the subject line ‘Christmas Appeal,’ including the amount you’d like to donate. We’ll reply with all the necessary details for making your contribution.
What is Burnley FC in the Community?
Burnley FC in the Community is the award-winning, official charity of Burnley Football Club.
They believe in the immense power of our football club to transform people’s lives for the better. BFCitC work hard every day to deliver their mission across the communities of Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, the Ribble Valley and West Yorkshire.
The highly-skilled, dynamic and passionate team now deliver over 50 community projects reaching over 32,000 individuals each year, reaching more than 42% of our town’s population.
The Community teams’ engagement spans across all age groups, ranging from pre-schoolers to seniors. They maintain a continual focus on identifying gaps in our community and actively seeking opportunities to provide support for individuals and groups wherever they can.
The charity’s efforts are channelled into three key areas: Football, Sport and Education, Welfare and Inclusion and Community Facilities. Their diverse programmes cover a wide range of issues including mental health, youth violence, cancer rehabilitation, food poverty and numerous others.
BFCitC also run three facilities in our local area providing fantastic spaces which offers world class opportunities for everyone in our local area. The foodbank feeds enough people to fill Turf Moor twice over each year, their multi-million-pound leisure facility which houses our health, football and sport programmes, and the outdoor education centre that provides opportunities for anyone of any age to explore the benefits of being outdoors.
Though they are embedded within the ethos of Burnley FC, we are financially independent from the football club and rely on fundraising activities, donations, sponsorships and grants to do the work they do and every penny raised goes to developing new opportunities for those who need it most.
